Nagpur is the winter capital of Maharashtra, the largest city in central India and third largest city in Maharashtra after Mumbai and Pune. In addition to being the seat of annual winter session of Maharashtra state assembly, Nagpur is also a major political and commercial centre of the Vidarbha region. It is known throughout the country as "Orange City" for being a major trade center of oranges that are cultivated in the region. Nagpur lies on the Deccan plateau of the Indian Peninsula and is dotted with natural and man-made lakes with Ambazari lake being the largest. Nagpur is the headquarters of Maintenance Command of Indian Air Force and a major education centre in Central India. Playing host to cultural events throughout the year, Nagpur’s society and culture is known for its vibrancy. Known for its folk songs and dances, Nagpur is also known for its costumes and ornaments.

The Vidharbha region has its own distinctive cuisine known as the Varhadi cuisine or Saoji Cuisine, famous for its spicy taste. Mount Road near Sadar is the best hang-out for foodies. - Ambazari Lake and Gardens
Ambazari Lake is one of the main tourist attractions in Nagpur. Located roughly 6 km to the west of the city, the Lake offers a variety of fun activities like boating and a toy train ride. During weekends, this lake is a popular picnic spot with locals. The garden nearby is a theme garden with many amenities for children, with the “musical fountain” being a major attraction. Ramtek fort temple is a centuries old temple to Lord Rama, and is said to be the sacred place where Lord Rama took rest before leaving to conquer Lanka. The temple is located within a fort situated on a calm hilltop. The unpolluted environs makes a visit to this temple spiritually and physically rejuvenating.
