Check-in and Baggage
- How much baggage can I check-in on SpiceJet flights?

SpiceJet allows a free checked baggage allowance of 20 kgs. per guest. SpiceJet does not accept responsibility for unsuitably packed, perishable, damaged or fragile baggage or for minor damage to the exterior of baggage (e.g. scratches, stains, soling, dents) resulting from normal wear and tear or for water damage to non-waterproof baggage.
In addition, SpiceJet will allow the complementary carry on of one small hand bag in addition to small personal items; such as a ladies purse/hand bag, an overcoat wrap or blanket, an umbrella/a walking stick, a reasonable amount of reading material, a small camera or binoculars, Infant's food for Guests traveling with Infant, or laptop computer.
Due to airport security regulations, no cabin baggage is allowed on any flights originating from Jammu and Srinagar airports.
- What are the Excess Baggage charges?

Excess baggage will be charged at Rs.200/Kg for each one-way journey.
- With upgraded security on aircraft what items am I not permitted to carry onboard the aircraft?

For safety reasons, dangerous articles, such as those listed below, must not be carried in guest's baggage.
- Compressed gasses: deeply refrigerated, flammable non-flammable and poisonous such as butane oxygen, liquid nitrogen, aqualung cylinders and compressed gas cylinders.
- Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries and apparatus containing mercury
- Explosives, munitions, fireworks and flares, ammunition including blank cartridges handguns, fire works, pistol caps.
- Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter refills, lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners, fire-lighters, lighters that need inverting before ignition, matches (these may be carried on the person), radio active material, Briefcases and attaché case with installed alarm devices. Oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides.
- Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials. Other dangerous articles such as magnetized materials, offensive or irritating materials.
- Carriage of dry cell batteries, knives, scissors, sharp instruments, tools, firearms, ammunitions, and toy replicas are prohibited in the Guest cabin.
- Can I check-in for my onward flight at the point of departure and reclaim my checked-in baggage at the end of the entire journey?

No, Spicejet doesnot offer the facility of through check-in for onward connections with Spicejet or other carriers. Spicejet operates only point to point service and our guests will have to check-in seperately for other flights. We don’t take responsibility for any inconvenience associated with missed connections to or from other carriers. Our guests need to check-in separately for any other carrier connecting flights. - When and how do I check-in?

Airport check-in counters will open two hours prior to the scheduled departure time. Guests are encouraged to report at the Airport between 1-2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. Check-in counters for all our flights will close 45 minutes prior to departure. SpiceJet will not be able to accept any guest reporting after the counters are closed. Any guest reporting after the stipulated counter closing time will be treated as a "no-show" and will not be entitled to any refund against their one-way fare paid.
- Can I reserve seats when I check-in?

Yes, SpiceJet offers seat assignments for all its flights and our guests are assigned seats on a first come first serve basis.SpiceJet offers assigned seating for all the guests at the Airport check-in counters.
- What should I do if my baggage has been lost during my flight with SpiceJet? Am I entitled to compensation?

Hopefully this won’t happen but if it should please notify one of our Guest Services Officers immediately and they’ll complete a Property Irregularity Report. We will endeavor to quickly locate and expedite it to you. If we can’t find it in seven (7) days we’ll provide lost baggage compensation in the amount of Rs 200 per Kg up to a maximum limit of Rs 3000.
- Can I get a refund for seat that has not been used?

No. We will not refund your money should you fail to travel as per your itinerary. If you notify us two hours before your scheduled departure however we'll allow a change/cancellation to your reservation.
- What is the maximum size allowed for my one piece of cabin baggage?

A small hand baggage not exceeding 55cm + 35cm + 25cm (total 115 cm). In addition, it may not exceed 7 Kg.

- How much baggage can I check-in if I have connecting international flight?

Guests connecting to / from any international destination to SpiceJet for domestic travel within 24 Hours are entitled to free baggage allowance as permitted by the international carrier, subject to the allowance being specified on the passengers international travel itinerary/ticket. The mentioned allowance would only be applicable once the proof of travel(boarding pass/ticket) is produced at the SpiceJet counter.
- Baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance is subject to a fee to of 200INR per kg, to be paid at the airport at the time of check-in.
- The above baggage allowance would only be applicable for Guests booked on the adult fare. Infant bookings do not qualify for separate baggage allowance.
- Guests may carry a maximum of one piece of cabin baggage, as defined by BCAS guidelines, with an additional restriction of maximum weight of one piece of 7 kg. The dimensions of the Cabin Baggage should not exceed (L+B+H) - 55+35+25 totaling 115cms for all flights operating the Boeing aircraft (737-800/900 ER) and (L+B+H) - 50+35+23 totaling 108cms for all flights operating the Bombadier Q400 aircraft . Due to airport security regulations, no cabin baggage is allowed on any flights originating from Jammu and Srinagar airports.
- Can I bring my weapons/Ammunitions?

Yes. A fee of 5000INR per sector is to be paid for carrying weapons/ammunitions. Each guest is allowed to carry one licensed fire arm (revolver, pistol, rifle) and not more than 50 live cartridges or as mentioned in Guest’s license whichever is less.
- Who all will be exempted from applicable Weapon/Ammunitions Fees?

- Serving personnel from Defense forces, Para military forces and Police if travelling on duty and carrying an official movement order issued by their concerned department authorizing the carriage of weapon and / or ammunition for official purpose.
- Sportsman traveling either domestic or International for a competition or representing the country, will be exempted from paying the charge levied for firearms, air gun and/or ammunition provided they fulfill the following conditions:
- Identification document for the sportsman. Evidence of identity can be established by a photo identity card issued by a government agency or the sponsoring club.
- Valid license/authorization of fire arms and ammunition.
- Bonafide for carriage of arms and ammunition on the basis of a written document issued by the President or Secretary of the sports club sponsoring him/her for the shooting event.
- How much baggage can I check-in on SpiceJet flights?
SpiceJet allows free checked baggage allowance of 20 kgs per guest. SpiceJet does not have a limit on the number of bags; however each bag must not exceed 32 kgs as per airport baggage restriction. The dimensions of the checked baggage should not exceed 158 cm (62 inches) in overall dimensions (L+W+H). SpiceJet does not accept responsibility for unsuitably packed, perishable, damaged or fragile baggage or for minor damage to the exterior of baggage (e.g. scratches, stains, soling, dents) resulting from normal wear and tear or for water damage to non-waterproof baggage.
- How much hand baggage can I carry in cabin on SpiceJet flights?
SpiceJet allows only one piece of hand baggage per guest. The hand baggage allowance is 7 kgs per guest .The dimensions of the hand baggage should not exceed 115 cm (45 inches) in overall dimensions (L+B+H = 55 cm+35 cm+25 cm). Strolley bags with the above specified dimensions will be allowed. SpiceJet will allow one small hand bag in addition to small personal items such as a ladies purse/hand bag, an overcoat wrap or blanket, an umbrella, a walking stick, a reasonable amount of reading material, a small camera or binoculars, Infant's food for Guests traveling with Infant, or laptop computer. (Due to airport security regulations, no cabin baggage is allowed on any flights originating from Jammu and Srinagar airports).
- What are the Excess Baggage charges?
Excess baggage will be charged at 200INR per kg or equivalent local currency of the departure country for each one-way journey. The currency in which the excess baggage would be charged would be the local currency of the country of departure e.g.- if a Guest is boarding a flight from India then the applicable charge would be in Indian Rupees (INR) and if the origin country is Sri Lanka then the charges would be in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR).

Check-in counters for all flights will close 60 minutes prior to departure. SpiceJet will not be able to accept any guest reporting after the counters are closed. Any guest reporting after the stipulated counter closing time will be treated as a "no-show" and will not be entitled to any refund against their one-way fare paid.

Hopefully this won’t happen, but if it should, please notify SpiceJet’s staff upon arrival. The staff will file a Property/Baggage Irregularity Report. SpiceJet will endeavor to quickly trace the baggage. SpiceJet will provide lost baggage compensation in the amount of 200INR per kg (or equivalent local currency of the departure country) up to a maximum limit of 3000INR or equivalent local currency of the departure country.
- Will I get a refund for seat that has not been used?
No, SpiceJet will not refund the money should the Guest fail to travel as per their itinerary. However, if the Guest notifies the airline at least two hours before the scheduled departure, SpiceJet will allow a change/cancellation to the reservation.

- Is there any baggage related restriction that I should be aware of ?
Yes, the following restrictions would be applicable for travel to:
• Kathmandu: As per Nepal Government Indian currency upto a denomination of 100 (100 INR notes) is only permitted to be carried on ones person. Carriage of Indian currency in denominations of 500 & 1000 (500INR and 1000INR notes) is strictly prohibited.
• Colombo: As per the Department of Agriculture - Sri Lanka; for importation of all plants, planting material and plant products into Sri Lanka it is necessary to obtain a permit from the Director General of Agriculture- Sri Lanka. Each import must carry phytosanitary certificates and other required documents from their respective countries at the point of entry. If not, materials would be subject to detention for destruction by the Quarantine Authority.
